Coffee Date 3.11.16

coffee date

Happy Friday!

I really enjoyed reading Melissa’s and Emily’s coffee date blog posts so I thought it be fun if I wrote one.

If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you…

…I signed up for my first postpartum race! I’m starting to feel like my old self and I love running again. Woohoo, it only took 6 months! I signed up for the Chicagoland Spring Half Marathon in Schaumburg. I’m most excited for Allie to be at the finish line.

CES

…I decided I’m going to sign up for the Chicago Marathon! I have coached the marathon training with CES the past few years, but I haven’t been able to run it. Last year I was only 4 weeks postpartum and the year before that I was doing IVF. It’s been way too long since I’ve run my favorite marathon so I’m super excited to sign up.

mom groups

…I love Stroller Strides! While the workout aspect is great, what I truly love about this class is the support and connection I’ve made with a strong group of moms in my area.

…I’m currently obsessed with cucumbers and zoodles.

…I’m so excited for spring.

…I’m wondering when to switch Allie into a convertible car seat. I’ve heard a few of my mom friends switch as early as 6 months, but that seems early to me.

allie

… This little girl has started sitting up on her own. She did it for 60 seconds yesterday. I’m a proud mama!

… She also started giggling. Tony and I were putting her pajamas on and we tickled her and she was giggling like crazy. It was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. <3

If we were having a coffee date, what would you tell me?

  1. Yay for coffee date posts! They’re just so easy when you want a random thoughts dump post. So excited that you signed up for races! I also loved the thought of seeing my baby at the end when it was over.

We switched to a convertible car seat at about 9 months. I totally could have kept Claire in the infant one until a year+ because she’s tiny but I HATED the infant one I got, a really cheap Graco that was already breaking. I was also pretty over carrying her around in it because she was heavy. But if I had an infant one I liked, I would have waited to switch.

  2. How cute is Allie in that last picture?! She looks so happy! 🙂

That’s so exciting that you’re going to start racing again! Have you started training for the half yet?

  3. Yay for sitting up, Allie!

I think I’ll probably wait until Amelia’s a year, or until she looks squished, to switch her. She’s not that big (and I think her and Allie are similar in weight, I just read your six month post), and our car seat goes up to 25 pounds or 32 inches. I know people who have switched at six months too, but I’m not ready yet! Plus, we don’t have a convertible car seat yet!

  5. I love Allie’s little giggly face, and I’m really excited for you to do Chicago! You do all the work for it, you might as well run it, lol. That is really fantastic! If we were having coffee, I would say that I am settling in to my new job, but still very much figuring it out 😀

  6. Aww, Baby giggles are the best! And nice work Allie – Sitting up on her own! Strong baby core. 🙂 I think we switched car seats when Swede was close to one year old… I don’t remember exactly but it was because she was starting to be unhappy squished in there. We’ll probably switch Abel sooner because he’s such a chunk.
    Have a nice weekend!

  7. Yay for races!!! It’s amazing to have your little one at the finish – I look forward to it SO much. I’m excited for you to share that with Allie!

And how cute is she sitting up?!! Sweetness.

FWIW, I didn’t switch Diapers to a convertible car seat until he was close to a year and his height maxed out his infant carrier/car seat.

  8. Love this! I think I’ll wait til Siena exceeds the length limits for the infant car seat – I enjoy the convenience of being able to leave her in it if she falls asleep on a walk or out and about.

If we had coffee this morning I’d recap our harrowing mountain drive yesterday-first time driving in snow and it was petrifying!

  9. We might have to switch to the convertible seat soon, Buel is getting really tall and it’s going to be a tight fit soon in the carrier. Plus, it’s so heavy that I usually end up taking him out and carrying him now!
