Logan – 5 Month Update

Logan – 5 Month Update

Logan turned 5 months last week! He had his first cold, ear infection, and I think he is teething. He has not been an easy baby. He takes all of his naps on me in the tula (yes, I’ve created a monster), I have to get him to sleep in the tula before I put him down at night, and he is fussy if I’m not holding him.

I can’t believe I’m saying this because Allie wasn’t an easy baby, but she was easy compared to Logan, He is just very needy. Good thing he is cute! Whenever he does smile or giggle it just melts my heart and makes me forget about all the tough moments.

Tony and I had our first date night out where my Mom babysat and put both kids to bed. I was a nervous wreck before we left. Logan was sick and throwing up, and Allie hates going to bed so I knew it wasn’t going to be easy for my Mom, but she is a miracle worker and got both kids down so we could stay out until 11:30pm! We had so much fun with our friends going out to eat and to two bars in Evanston. We needed that night out for our sanity. Thanks, Mom! 🙂

Likes:

  • sleeping in the tula
  • looking at mommy
  • being held 24/7
  • watching his big sister
  • likes music
  • sleeping on his tummy
  • flipping over onto his tummy, he won’t lay on his back longer than 10 seconds

Dislikes:

  • sleeping in the crib
  • when you’re not paying attention to him
  • when you’re not holding him
  • being hungry

Eating: I’m breastfeeding him 4-5 times per day, but I don’t think he’s getting a lot of milk from me. He is getting 4-5 6oz bottles of formula. I’m going to try to make it through this month and stop breastfeeding when he hits 6 months. He prefers the bottle and I barely pump 2-3 oz for him. I’m sad, but also happy to be done with it.

Tony gave him avocado and a few licks of an orange a couple of times, but I don’t plan to really start giving him solids until his 6 months.

Sleep: Logan is napping on me in the tula because every single time I put him down he wakes up and screams. He is much happier when he naps so I’m just letting him to this for now. At night time he is either sleeping in the rock n play or in our bed. I will start sleep training him with the Ferber method when he hits 6 months.

We usually put him to bed around 7:00pm and he wakes up around 1am to eat and around 5-6 am. He takes a morning nap when we are at Stroller Strides, sleeps for an hour around 1 pm and then another hour around 4 or 5 pm.

Allie is 5 months old on the left and Logan is 5 months old on the right.

He is wearing size 3 diapers and 6-9 month clothes.

He can roll from back to stomach and very rarely rolls from his stomach to his back.

He has good control of his thumb and can hold objects for a long period of time.

He will probably be able to sit up by himself soon.

He found his feet and likes to grab them.

Happy 5 months, Logan!

  1. Wow, your babies look so much alike in that side-by-side picture at the end! I couldn’t see the resemblance before, now that Allie is so big!
