My Visit To Fleet Feet Sports

My Visit To Fleet Feet Sports

Oh, how I love a good running store! After my job interview yesterday (which seemed to go well – I really hope I get the job) I stopped by the Fleet Feet Sports – Piper’s Alley location in Chicago. Before I talk about my experience I want you to know that I do not work for Fleet Feet and they are not paying me or giving me anything to do this review.

I can’t say enough good things about Fleet Feet. Whether you’re a novice runner, experienced runner, or somewhere in between, you will find something special about this store. The staff was super nice, helpful, and knowledgeable.

Not only do they have every running shoe you could imagine, they also have the largest selection of running clothes and accessories I have ever seen in one store. You can really get everything you need here from compression socks to sports beans.ο»Ώ

I think it’s so important for runners to go to a specialty running store to find the right shoes. The employees at Fleet Feet will do an in-depth interview to get an understanding of what your current use for shoes is and what your goals are. They take technical measurements and do a thorough analysis of your gait to find the perfect shoes for you. You will not find this at a regular sports store. If you are training for a race and running in the wrong shoes your more susceptible to injuries.

They also offer weekly fun runs and races. Check out the event calendar here.

After I left the store I signed up for the Fleet Feet Sports Women’s 5k & 10k – presented by new balance. It’s on Sunday, July 17, 2011 and will be my first race since my injury. I’ve never ran a 10k before so I’m really excited! πŸ™‚

Of course I couldn’t leave empty handed!! I bought this cute Nike visor that I’ll be wearing to the Nike 26.2 Preview at Soldier Field next weekend.

Don’t forget to enter my raffle to win Cubs tickets. I’m proud to be running with DetermiNation and I’m shooting to raise $1,000. Please consider supporting me with a donation. My Fundraising Page.

  1. I totally agree! I love my Fleet Feet store. As soon as I get back on my feet, I’ll be making a trip there for a new assessment and shoes! And thanks for the pics–it’s neat to see what the other stores look like inside. And good luck on the 17th!! πŸ™‚

  2. yey, I’m running the Women’s 10K too! The shirts for that race are always the best! This is my 3rd year but the 1st year running the 10K. Celebration after?

  4. The Fleet Feet Women’s race is one I am really considering doing. I would like to finish another 10K. and I certainly agree that Fleet Feet is an awesome place. Everyone is so helpful & friendly there. I live closer to the Lincoln Square one and have joined in on a few of the Chick’s Night runs and had a good time.

fingers crossed for the job too πŸ™‚

  5. yey for being able to run again and for your job interview! I’m so happy for you!

I do love Fleet Feet as well, they did such a great job in fitting me for my Mizuno running shoes so that I wasn’t just blindly choosing a brand!

Clearly I have been living under a rock because I didn’t notice your fundraising before! I shall head right over πŸ™‚

Best wishes for starting running and for the job! πŸ™‚

  6. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for that job.

I just went to a running store yesterday to make sure I was running in the right shoes. I haven’t done that in a while and found it so helpful!

  7. Sara, I SO hope you get that job! Thinking good thoughts for you–you deserve it!

I’ve run a couple of 10Ks and I have since decided that I prefer half marathons. Crazy, right? I think I’m just more interested in a longer race where I don’t have to push my pace. Weird, but I think a half is my favorite distance!

    • I ran my first half in May and LOVED it. So when are you running your first marathon?!

Chicago is a great first marathon. πŸ˜‰

  8. I could not agree with you more! FF is WONDERFUL! It is pretty much my only running resource/store here in Columbus, OH. Plus, We have the Marathoner in Training (MIT) program through FF, which is the best thing I ever decided to join!! I would of never have been able to run a half marathon or marathon without my friends, coaches, and supporters at FF. Now that I get to help coach other runners through MIT, I am even more excited about the program and helping people change their lives too…one mile at a time! πŸ˜‰

Thanks for the great review! I want to visit the store in Chicago someday, because it is A LOT larger than ours!

  9. I hope you get the job!

I love fleet feet. I get to meet there twice a week for CES training for the Chicago marathon. It’s a great store.

If my leg heals I really want to do the womens 10k too.
