Random Thoughts From the Bride-to-Be

Random Thoughts From the Bride-to-Be

Wedding Planning

  • How did a year go by so fast? Only 49 days until the wedding!
  • Who is regulating the pricing structure in the wedding industry? No one… as soon as you mention wedding it seems like the price goes through the roof.
  • I had no idea there were so many events involved with a wedding. It’s NOT just the wedding day, there’s the bridal shower, bachelor party, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, after party, and finally the morning after brunch.
  • I’m sorry, I’m not sorry that I don’t care about my wedding shoes. I want to be comfortable so I can dance the night away.
  • My guests better frame the ceremony programs. NOT allowed to throw them away, they must be cherished!
  • Why do brides love to register for gifts so much? It has been my least favorite activity of all. I appreciate every gift I receive but I have no idea what I want/need and I actually hate “stuff”. The less things in my apartment the happier I am. I’m a minimalist. 🙂
  • Wedding planning is like marathon training.
  • Speaking of marathons, I really wish I could run the Fox Valley Marathon the day after our wedding. How awesome would that be?
  • I had no idea I could love a dress so much… this is crazy because it’s coming from a girl who hates to dress up.
  • You think you’re sick of me talking about the wedding?! Try living in my head for a day.
  • I’m guessing Tony will cry and I will not. I’m just not a crier.
  • I really hope it’s warm on our wedding day. I would hate to freeze while we’re taking pictures.
  • Can I wear my Just Married tank every day on the honeymoon?
  • I can’t worry about running tan lines. They are happening and I can’t stop it.
  • I am so grateful for my family and friends that have been helping and keeping me sane.
  • I’m so excited to be marrying the man of my dreams.
  • Overall, wedding planning has been quite fun.

What’s your favorite part of a wedding? Any advice for the bride-to-be would be greatly appreciated!

  1. You are going to be amazed at how much free time you have to think about anything else besides wedding planning after it’s all over, and just how much time planning actually took up.

I hope you have nice weather! I got married last November and it ended up being 60 degrees that day, which was awesome. And definitely don’t worry about shoes! Mine don’t show up in any of my pictures, and I just wore a cheap pair of flats I bought online. For all the money you’re spending on everything else, shoes are so not important.

Good luck with the rest of your planning!

    • Thanks, Anne! What did you do with yourself after the wedding was over? I’m going to have so much free time. LOL. I’m glad you agree with me on the shoes. 🙂

  2. When the big day comes, make sure you slow down and enjoy it, because it’ll go really fast!

    • Thanks, Maggie! I’m going to really try to enjoy every moment of the wedding. I know it’s going to go by so fast. At least then we’ll have our honeymoon to look forward to. 🙂

  3. haha. I can totally relate, having just gone through the whole process. I ended up not having a formal bachelorette party or a bridal shower or engagement party. It was just way too much in my opinion, and I felt guilty expecting people to shell out money for everything. Also, I just didn’t have time, as I was really busy with residency and out of town for a month.

I totally hear ya about the exuberant costs of anything wedding related!! Ridiculous!

Definitely go for the comfortable shoes!! I found a pair I love at a little shop called the Left Bank. Super comfortable. Where are you getting married?

  4. I’m not married but one thing I always thought was a cool idea was to have disposable cameras on the tables at the reception so guests could take pictures so the bride and groom would have a lot more random moments captured. Now, I don’t even know if they still sell disposable cameras and I doubt they will by the time I’m married but I still think it’s a cute idea. Congratulations and best wishes!
