Thinking Out Loud Thursday 10.22.15

I’m linking up with Amanda to do some thinking out loud.

  • We survived our first trip with Allie. We went with Tony to Ann Harbor for a work trip and except for a few melt downs from Allie and living on 3 hours of sleep each night, it was a success.

  • Poop explosions in public are no joke. We went out to eat with our new friends on Sunday and Allie slept for almost the whole meal. We were bragging about how good she was being until we were about to leave and I realize there’s poop every where. She hadn’t pooped for two days and there was definitely two days worth of poop all over her. While I’m stripping her down in the bathroom she starts peeing and then I run out of wipes. Good times!
  • The Chipotle salad with extra quac is still one of my favorite meals. I can’t get enough.

  • Before I had a baby I would hear mothers talking about never getting a break and how being a mom is a 24/7 gig. I never understood that until now. Grandma can come and give you a break and being a dad isn’t easy either, but a mom’s job is never done.

What’s on your mind today?

  1. Yay for surviving your first trip! We need to make a trip to Michigan to see family, and I’ve been putting it off because I don’t want to mess up her schedule!

Yes, it’s so true — there are no breaks in motherhood.

    • The drive to Michigan wasn’t too bad. We stopped twice so I could nurse her. I would try to stick to the schedule even when you’re traveling. It didn’t work really well, but she bounced back quickly when we got home.

  2. I love Ann Arbor! It’s about half an hour away from where I grew up, and in fact, my mom and I are going there next week when I’m home πŸ™‚ Glad you all survived your first trip!

PS, I might be suggesting a wine pumpkin hummus night soon so that I can pick your brain a little bit. You have been warned πŸ˜€

  5. Yeahhh, I have rushed out of stalls with the baby changer due to frantic mom’s with poopy kids. I don’t blame them, it can happen anywhere!!!

  6. Congrats on surviving your first trip! And I love veggie burrito bowls with guac. Yum!

  7. First family trip –> glad it was a success! I am still awaiting the day we travel with Axel. Maybe sometime around the holidays? We really need to get out more. πŸ™‚ That poop explosion story had me laughing. Isn’t it amazing how much they poop?! Could you imagine if adults pooped that much?

  8. Thanks for being honest and sharing this. Right now we are living in a motel an hour out of NYC. Each day Rock leaves for work and comes home in the evening. It is a business we started together and I miss going to work with him. And right now Mary is in a phase where she doesn’t want to be set down. I feel like I get nothing done and the only way I can get things done is if she is in the Bjorn. Until I woke up at 3am last night with back spasms from wearing it too much! We had a funny poop explosion last week. I drove Mary to this cute little mountain town to go antiquing. When I got her out she had pooped everywhere. Guess who forgot a spare outfit (the one time!). I cleaned her up, put her back in the car seat in just a diaper, and drove the 30 minutes back to the motel. It was pretty funny!

    • Sarah, I know exactly what you are going through. Allie wants to be held 24/7 too. I started seeing a chiropractor this week from the back and shoulder pain. I hope it gets easier for you. Maybe try a chiropractor or massage? Of course, the poop explosion happened the one time you didn’t have an extra outfit – too funny! Did she poop on the car seat? Luckily we bought a little insert that goes in the car seat that I can take out and wash.

  9. Yay for surviving your first trip with baby! πŸ™‚

Haha I’m cracking up at the poop explosion. That’s like a rite of passage for sure πŸ˜‰

I felt like Little Miss had one pretty much every time we were either about to leave the house, or someone was about to come over. The joy of breast fed babies! hah.
