Snippets Of My Life

Happy Friday!

I’ve been super busy and have wanted to blog about a handful of things but haven’t had the time.

Here’s what I’ve been up to and some fun events I have planned for the weekend.

My twin sister and I went to Montrose Beach in Chicago on Sunday.

Laying on the beach, relaxing, chatting about life; it can’t get much better than that.

Wednesday’s Workout

15 minute warmup
2×800 @3:40 Splits: 3:34, 3:32
6×400 @1:40 Splits: 1:40, 1:39, 1:38, 1:37, 1:39, 1:38
10 minute cool down

I now have a love hate relationship with speed work. This might surprise you but I LOVE it while I’m doing it. I love how it makes me feel hardcore, gives me confidence, and makes me feel fast. On the other hand, I don’t enjoy feeling like my legs feel 10 pounds heavier the next day and having a huge knot in my left glute.

I’m attending a Chicago Blogger Meet-up on Saturday. We’re going to Seasons 52 and then Red Mango for frozen yogurt. Seasons 52 is one of my favorite restaurants and I haven’t been since I lived in Orlando. I’m looking forward to making new friends and eating some good food.

I’m running my first 10k on Sunday! I want to do well, I have a time goal in mind but I don’t want to post it and set myself up for being disappointed if I don’t achieve it. It’s my first 10k so I will PR no matter what. :)

Check out this post from #FFCheer’s blog, where the ladies are giving the low-down for why we’re running—Fleet Feet Women’s 5k & 10k race:

The Women’s Race Baker’s Dozen

One of the reasons I love to run is because I love to eat. Brunch after a race is one of my favorite things. If you’re running the Women’s 5k & 10k or live in Chicago and want to make new friends, please join us for brunch on Sunday at 11:30am.

Do you have fun plans for the weekend? Anyone else racing this weekend?

Good luck with the 10k! No races for me until it cools down in the Fall!

Thanks Holly! You’re smart, it’s supposed to be 95 degrees on Sunday for the race.

I’m doing a 5K on Sunday. I have been having problems running outside, but this race is on a packed dirt bike trail, so I hope I’ll do better than my previous outside attempts. Have fun at your 10K!!

Look at all the fun stuff you’ve got going on!! I’m happy for you! And have an awesome race! Don’t mind if I vicariously run it with you, okay? Hahaha. And the Meet-up sounds pretty cool too. I want to check and see if there’s anything like that in my area!

Good luck in the 10k! I can’t wait to hear how it goes. I’ve never done a 10k yet either.

Thanks! I love 15k’s and hate 5k’s so we’ll see about this, lol.
