Life with a newborn. I love it a lot! There’s no way I can describe the love I feel for Allie. I love her more than I ever dreamed. This tiny little thing is so amazing.
She is so sweet and smells like heaven. I could smell and kiss her head all day.
Since this newborn stage is so short, I’m trying to make the most of it and not worry about work, responding to emails, laundry or really doing anything other than spending time with her. There are only so many moments of napping with a newborn on your chest. I hope I never forget these precious moments.
Here are a few facts of my life with a newborn:
- Everything (eating, showering, leaving the house, etc.) is planned around breastfeeding.
- My life is filled with lots of wipes and diapers.
- For the last week Allie wakes at 10pm, 1am, 4am and 7am to eat.
- I now sleep on my back with Allie on my chest. I know I might be creating a terrible habit, but it’s the only way she sleeps well and I love the cuddles.
- I’m learning how to live on very little sleep and I’m okay with it.
- Seeing Tony hold Allie makes my heart melt every.single.time.
- Life with a newborn is freaking hard. The hardest thing I’ve ever done. Definitely harder than being pregnant or giving birth.
- We go on at least one walk per day. Allie is so alert and content while we walk. She takes after her daddy with her love for the outdoors.
- I watch way more TV than I ever have before.
- Lots of tears while I’m trying to get Allie dressed. Who designs baby clothes? They are impossible to get them over her head.
- Lots of laundry! Where does it all come from?
- Lots of happy tears. I’ve never been so happy in my life.
In conclusion, I love being a mom!
I think new moms keep washing machines/dryers/laundromats in business. π

I miss you too Susie!
Allie is so adorable! I’m looking forward to having a newborn again. Oh, the snuggles! π
I agree on the TV-watching! I watched every movie I could think of my first maternity leave.

The snuggles are the best! I’m watching every show & movie on Netflix.
Moms are always talking about the way their newborn babies smell, which must be the kind of thing that sounds a little odd until you have one of your own! It sounds like you’re all settling in and getting used to life as a family of 3 π
Yes, it is strange but I’m obsessed with her smell. Life with a newborn is getting easier. π
I feel like I could have written this. Allie and Axel appear to be on the exact same sleep schedule. Not ideal, but at least there are some good chunks of time for sleep. Does Allie sleep on your chest at night too? Or just during the day? And yes to laundry, diapers, tv, and daily walks! Axel loves being in the jogger β I think it soothes him. βΊ Have you struggled at all? I will like I have!

Yes, not an ideal sleep schedule but she’s sleeper better than before. Allie sleeps on my chest some of the night but I try to put her in her crib or rock n play. Does axel sleep on you at night?
Axel doesn’t like sleeping on my chest, but he does like laying on Justin’s chest. He primarily sleeps in the rock n play. I also just bought a bassinet that we are going to try.

This is so sweet. Mary is going through a crying phase when we set her down and she tends to have painful gas, so I tend to sleep a lot with her on my chest. I too think I am likely creating a monster, but it works and it is pretty awesome. I keep hearing that it gets better and they will start sleeping for 4 hour stretches. But I am not sure when that will actually happen!

4 hours sounds like heaven. Lol! I’m sorry to hear mary has gas. Have you tried the gas drops? They help Allie.
Love the Allie pics! So much sweetness in this post, I think I need an insulin shot! Enjoy your newborn time! π

So sweet! I can tell you love being a mom. We did the sleeping on the chest thing too – it didn”t create a bad habit for us. They just need to be close!
