The Big 3-0

The Big 3-0

Last year on my 29th birthday I was going through IVF and my birthday wish was to get pregnant and have a baby before I turned 30. I couldn’t help feel emotional and so blessed to have Allison in my arms on the big 3-0 this year. She truly is the best gift I could ever ask for. ❤️

My actually birthday is October 7, but of course I didn’t celebrate just one day. I had a week long celebration!

bday

Wednesday, October 7th was jam packed! It started with my six week postpartum appointment. My doctor was surprised to see me on my 30th birthday, but it was exactly six weeks since I had Allison and I wanted her to tell me I was cleared to run!! She said I was healing well and I could slowly start running again. That’s what I wanted to hear on my birthday.

By the time I got home I had visitors waiting. Grandma Wendy, Great Grandma Wirts and Aunt Kathy came to visit Allison and celebrate my birthday. We spent the day hanging out, passing Allison around and lots of laughing. We also had a great birthday lunch at one of my new favorite restaurants, Jason’s Deli.

They had a long drive home so they left late afternoon which gave us enough time to get ready for dinner. Since my twin sister is Jewish Orthodox and eats Kosher we went to Shallots which is the nicest Kosher restaurant in the Chicagoland area. It was a wonderful dinner!

After dinner we rushed home to watch the Cubs win the postseason play in game! We are HUGE Cubs fans so this was a big deal. It also means there will be postseason games at Wrigley Field and I get to go to one of them.

On Thursday, I went for my first run since having Allison (blog post to come) and then we drove to Elmhurst to have a special birthday lunch with my step sister Whitney.

Sunday was the Chicago Marathon! The race falls on my birthday week every year so of course I include it as one of my birthday celebrations.

I was a little worried about bringing a six week old to such a big race, but I couldn’t miss seeing all my friends, trainees, and wishing them all good luck.

We didn’t stay for the whole race, but we were at the CES Race Day Resort (it’s basically a big party for the CES runners before and after the race) from 4:30-9:00am. I was able to wish everyone good luck and they all got to meet Allison.

After an afternoon nap, my Mom, Katie and I had our last birthday celebration. We went to the Mario Tricoci Spa to get pampered. I’ve been wanting a massage since I gave birth and it was heavenly. After the massage the three of us got pedicures. It was the perfect way to end my birthday week.

Anyone else celebrate their birthday all week or month? Who else is excited for the Cubs?

  11. Happy belated birthday! So cool that you got to bring Allie to the race for a bit. I love her little Cubs outfit. I wanted to get Mary one but now we are out in NYC for work and since we are in Mets territory I don’t think we will have such luck. Happy running!
