Things are definitely different around here, so I thought it would be fun to give you guys a little peak into our new lives. Here’s a little behind-the-scenes recap of Monday!
3:30 – First feeding of the day. I wake up thrilled I got to sleep 4 hours straight. This is the first time Allison has slept longer than 2-3 hours in a row at night time. Woohoo!
7:30am – I wake up to Allison making squeaky noises. It’s her way of telling me she’s hungry. I get up, grab her and start nursing. It usually takes about 30 minutes to nurse.
8:00am – Max jumps into bed and the three of us cuddle in bed for awhile. My Mom is out of town so Max has been with us for the last few days. I love this cuddle time in the morning.
8:30am – We get up, I change her diaper and quickly make the bed. I’m a little OCD and must have our bed made. Even if I’m going to spend half my day in bed nursing, I still want it to look nice.9:00am – We head outside to take max for a 30 minute walk and stop at the mailbox to drop off some mail. <—- always multitasking! 🙂
9:30am – We arrive back home and I quickly feed Max and eat breakfast. Today it’s eggs, spinach and an apple on the side. I eat while Allison is in the carrier because she’s asleep and I don’t want to wake her.
9:45am – She wakes up and starts crying so I know she’s hungry. I turn on Kelly & Michael and sit down to nurse.
10:15am – I put Allison in her crib so I can go through the gifts and clothes we received from my stepmom, Marcella the day before. I’m still not sure the best way to organize baby clothes. They all get mixed up in the dresser and it’s hard to see what we have. Any tips?
11:00am – Allison starts screaming. I think it’s gas because she’s arching her back and she won’t keep her favorite pacifier in her mouth. She keep crying so I eventually sit down to nurse and watch Windy City Live. While nursing, I work on some social media for a Pilates studio I work for.
11:45am – Allison is finally asleep so I throw some chicken in the crock pot and jump in the shower.
12:30pm – She’s still sleeping so I use this time to run around the house cleaning, throw a load of laundry in the washer and I call the pediatrician to make out next appointment.
1:00pm – I’m starving so I grab a turkey sandwich, cut up veggies and crackers on the side. I didn’t get to take a picture because Allison wakes up hungry so I eat while nursing her.
1:30pm – We take Max for his afternoon walk.
2:00pm – It’s tummy time! While Allison is hanging out on her play mat I use the time to brush Max and I do a couple of yoga poses.
3:00pm – Allison seems to be in a good mood so I put her in her car seat and we head to TJ Maxx to return some baby clothes and wonder around a bit.
4:00pm – We arrive back home and Allison is hungry again. I sit down and eat a Luna bar while nursing and browsing Facebook.
5:00pm – Tony comes home!! Big hugs for daddy. He spends time with Allison while I fold and put laundry away and take max for another walk.
5:30pm – I walk in the door to screams. This is when the cluster feeding usually starts. She wants to constantly eat from 4-8pm so I do a lot of sitting and cuddling. It’s actually a really sweet time together.
6:30pm – She fell asleep so I grab dinner (chicken veggies & brown rice on the side) and put PJ’s on.
8:00pm – Allison wakes up. Feed her, burp her change her, cuddle her, etc. I’m hungry so I make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich.
9:00pm – Allison wants to use me as a human pacifier. I swaddle her and walk around until she falls back asleep.
9:30pm – Bed time or I should call it nap time because she’ll wake up again soon.
So that’s what a typical day in the life with a newborn looks like! It was a busy, but great day!
Wow, your day is certainly jam-packed. Allie sure is one hungry baby which is fantastic! Glad to hear that she lets you sleep a little longer now. Thanks for giving us a peek into a day in your life! 🙂

Thank you, Pete! She keeps me busy.
She is so precious! Do you give her anything for gas? I’ve tried grip water a few times and it seems to calm him down and help him sleep.

I give her tummy drops but I’m not sure how much it helps.
Phew! I’m impressed with how much you got done! That’s my biggest worry- so I’m happy to see you’ve found a little groove. 🙂

The first couple of weeks were more relaxed. I’m glad I’m able to stay busy and get out of the house with her.
Oh I love day in the life posts! Allison is so cute! Your days sound marvelous and busy ? as far as the organizing baby clothes – I had a 3 drawer dresser/changing table for my son. Top drawer had wipes, diapers, socks, bibs, burp clothes, nursing stuff, and sleep sacks. Middle drawer had sleepers, onsies, and outfits in current size, and the third drawer had clothes of the next size up. As my son out grew a size I would move clothes out and up! I also stored bulkier items in the closet with baby hangers and a hanging closet organizer. Also, isn’t baby wearing awesome!! I had a Moby wrap – best thing ever!

Thanks for the tips! I think I have too many clothes so it’s hard to see what we have. Do you keep outfits together or pants with pants and onesies with onesies?
Maybe this will cause you to rethink your OCD bed-making … and give you some more time in the morning! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/make-your-bed-dust-mites_5601809ce4b08820d91a3e8f
Hah, probably not. My bed looking pretty makes me happy.
Thank you for the peek into your new typical day! And I love seeing photos of how cute Allison is! 🙂 You’re such a good mom, Sara – you can tell just from the way you write about all of it.

Thank you! I’m not one to sit still long.
LOVE your baby carrier! Chevrons are my thang. That’s great that you got a 4 hour stretch of sleep! I think once C started sleeping in more than those crappy 2-3 hour chunks, I finally felt human again.

I felt amazing after those 4 hours. I really hope it starts to happen more often.
This sounds like a great day! You took a shower, ate real food, got some fresh air, ran errands, enjoyed snuggles with the little one. Who could ask for more?! 🙂
Your baby carrier is so stylish! Love the chevron.

Rock on, Sara!!! It sounds like a crazy mix of juggling and multitasking, but you’ve got it all under control!!! My favorite picture is the one of Allie sleeping. She looks like a little angel!

Allie will sleep 4 hours? Axel has yet to sleep more than 3 hours at one time. I am just waiting for that one “special” night when it happens. We will be celebrating. Haha. I know what you mean about organizing the clothes. I thought we would be using all of the cute clothes that we have for him, but we end up going through the same 5 or 6 onsies that are most comfortable for around the house and easiest to undo for diaper changes. We have only really dressed him up a couple times for special outings… otherwise it’s all about ease. It sounds like Allie and Axel are on very similar schedules. ☺
Kristen @ Glitter and Dust recently posted..Happy One Month
She only slept 4 hours straight that one time. I hope she does it again soon! I hope Axel does too. 🙂
And here I was thinking that stay at home mom just stay home and watch TV. 🙂 JK. Definitely a busy day for you!!
