I’m linking up with Amanda to do some thinking out loud.
- I miss running. I miss coaching, my running friends, and the way it makes me feel. Endorphins are amazing!!
- Every restaurant should have a delivery option.
- My husband is amazing. I couldn’t survive having a newborn without him.
- The moment I feel like I have just fallen asleep, I’m jolted awake by Allie screaming.
- I’m so thankful for my family’s support. Especially my Mom who tells me I’m doing everything right.
- Breastfeeding is HARD. Everyone tells me it gets easier and I’m praying they’re right.
- Nights are long and dark.
- More than anything, I can’t wait for Allie to look up at me and smile.
Please don’t judge my thoughts. Today I am struggling, but I know it will get easier and Allie is worth it.
Who is going to judge you for those thoughts?! And I’ve seen countless moms break down and cry over breastfeeding (when I was a newborn photographer in hospitals) – you’re not alone in the struggle. But I have heard it gets easier. <3 I'm sure you're doing amazingly!

Thank you, Alex! I’m probably judging myself more than anyone else is. I didn’t know you were a newborn photographer. I bet that was a fun job.

Can you produce some breast milk for me? That would be great! 😉

Oh Sara the newborn phase is hard and you are doing EVERYTHING right! No judging here at all. And I will say breastfeeding is hard!! Be patient because Allie will get the hang of it soon. Also I found using a nipple shield helped TONS! Allie is just precious! Hoping you can run soon and and get some rest 🙂
Thank you for your kind comment. I’ve been using the nipple shield when my nipples are cracker & it helps a lot.

I know exactly what you mean about those long, dark nights.. and having a supportive husband… and family… and being constantly summoned by the cry of a tiny human. You are not alone and know there are others out there going through this as well. The newborn stage is precious, but wow is it a total life adjustment. Hugs!!!

You are so right! This time is precious, but what an adjustment. Are you using any techniques to get baby to sleep longer at night? I’m going to try to keep Allie awake more during the day.

You sound like you’re handling it pretty well!!! I have never ever heard any parent claim that there is anything remotely easy about having a baby!! Someone was telling me that basically you have one job right now – provide for your baby. And your partner’s job is to keep YOU going. Everything else can wait if it needs to, or rely on someone else to do it.

You’re right, Maggie. That’s exactly what’s happening. Thank goodness for my husband!
