2016 Goals

2016 Goals

It’s 2016 and it’s time for a fresh start! I’m feeling refreshed and ready to jump back into healthy habits. There’s something about having new goals that gets me excited. I’m not a big new year’s resolution person. I know that resolutions work for many people, but they can be a bit broad and overwhelming. So I like to set attainable goals and then check in with myself once a month to see how I’m doing.

2016

So here are my goals for 2016:

Health:

  • Sweat for the next 30 days. This will help me get back into the routine of working out. Since having Allie I’ve only been working out 2-3 times a week.
  • Run 3 times a week.
  • Get stronger and strength train 3 times a week.
  • Make all of Allie’s food at home. I got a new food processor for Christmas. 🙂
  • Be in bed by 9:30pm Monday-Friday.
  • Drink at least 100 ounces of water each day.
  • Make dinner with Tony more often. At least 3 times a week.

Family & Friends:

  • Avoid using my phone when I’m with Allie. Put the phone in the other room when we are playing and reading books.
  • Stay in touch with family and friends.
  • Stop trying to reach out to friends that don’t show any interest back.

Self Care:

  • Get a manicure every 2-3 weeks.
  • Read a book (not on my iphone) before bed.
  • Ask Tony to watch Allie 2 times a week so I can have an hour to myself.
  • Blog 1-2 times a week for fun.
  • Accept the baby toys being around the house and enjoy playing with them with Allie.

Professional:

  • Find balance with work and being a stay at home mom.
  • Get paid what I’m worth = charge more!
  • Limit the amount of work I take on. The first year of Allie’s life is way more important than my business. Work will always be there.

Did you make New Year’s goals this year?

  1. Definitely thinking and praying about goals. I don’t want to make really daunting goals, but I do want to have prayers for the coming year, so I’ll be thinking about them this week. <3

  2. You better be charging what you are worth! I’m upping prices soon as well, but it has been good to help me get started and realize how much work I really do put into what I do. I think you will find the balance between work and family quicker than you think. Until 100000 trainees start emailing you at all hours. But I don’t think there is anything that could stop you from getting the most out of your family time.

  3. Are you working from home also? It’s challenging, and I really want to enjoy this first year (and all years!)!

  4. Working from home is very challenging, but I know a lot of moms who do it. I am still trying to figure out how to balance work and taking care of Axel. I guess the lesson is, there really is no “balance” per se when taking care of a child. They are always priority. 🙂

I like the idea of not reaching out to friends who don’t reciprocate. I have a few of these myself.

    Happy New Year!!

  5. I think these are some great goals to help you stay happy and healthy this year! 🙂 I’m trying to get back into the routine of working out more often again too – it’s hard after an extended break!

I really like your last friendship goal too. I think that saves a lot of headache and frustration, and we all have friendships that tend to go in that direction at some time or another. But life is too short to waste time on people who don’t also make an effort.

  6. Accept the baby toys around the house… That is a good one! I feel like the baby paraphanelia has more than doubled since my son was born and sometimes the house feels so cluttered & drives me crazy!

  7. I’m with you on getting back to a workout routine, or a routine in general. My goal the next few weeks is to ease back into working out, following my meal plan and eating routine, getting organized and getting to bed on time so going back to work will be easier! I’m working from home one day per week, I’ll need your advice!

  8. These are terrific goals. I especially like the ones about finding balance, limiting phone use while in the company of others (which I really REALLY need to do as well), and reading real books instead of online books. Cheers to a fantastic 2016 to come!

  9. I LOVE your goals for this year Sarah, it sounds like they are very balanced to cover all the different aspects of your life. I especially love the “Stop trying to reach out to friends that don’t show any interest back.” goal. I personally did this last year (there’s something about having a new baby that makes you really prioritize your relationships), and have found that although I have lost what I considered a few of my best friends….I honestly don’t miss them at all. It was tiring being the one to keep up the relationship all the time and those people never make an effort on their end. I now cherish the fact that I have more time to spend with the friends who want to spend time with me too 🙂 It’s a great thing!

  10. Great goals! I especially love the last two! Charge what your time is worth, and work will always be there later. It sounds like you have a great year ahead of you – and I can’t wait to see all of the amazing things you accomplish with motherhood and your work!

  11. Great goals you have there! And I enjoy seeing you on Saturdays. I will never forget how much it meant seeing you on marathon day.

  12. Love these. Very realistic! I especially love accept the baby toys everywhere – ugh so true. I am battling them daily. And stop reaching out to people who are not responding. That is a big one for me that I have a hard time letting go of. I just need to move on.
