Allison – 4 Month Update

Allison – 4 Month Update

Allie turned 4 months the day after Christmas. It was the best Christmas of my life so far. I loved all the gifts I received, but Allie was all I needed this year. She was the best gift I could ever get.

The biggest change this month has been her personality. She started babbling and cooing a lot more. When I lay her down and talk to her in a high voice she gets excited and will giggle and babble back at me. She loves to giggle at daddy when he sings the Spanish alphabet.

4 months

Likes:

  • sleeping on mommy
  • sleeping in the tula
  • her new Christmas presents
  • holding your hand
  • looking at lights
  • public places
  • sleeping in the car
  • looking at the TV

dislikes

Dislikes:

  • sleeping in her crib at night
  • being put down (she wants to be held 24/7)
  • being over tired
  • sitting still, she wants to be moving

Eating: She ate like a champ this month and put on a good amount of weight. We’ll find out her measurements at her 4 month well check tomorrow. I’ve been breastfeeding her 4-5 times a day and giving her 4 oz of formula 3-4 times a day. She likes when I nurse her in the morning, but my supply goes down in the afternoon so sometimes she gets frustrated. I’ll still nurse her, but then give her a bottle afterwards if she’s still hungry.

Sleep: The big news is that we got her to nap in her crib today! This is the first time she’s fallen asleep in there. She usually naps on me in the tula or in her swing. We put her down for bed around 6:30pm-7:00pm and then she wakes up around 6:30am. She sleeps in our bed, but like I mentioned last month, I’m going to put her in the crib in January and let her cry it out. I’ll check on her every 10 minutes. I’m really hoping it works and we can get her to sleep in there. I don’t sleep well when she’s on my chest or next to me in bed.

She weighs 12 lbs 10 oz (16th percentile) and is 24 inches long (36th percentile).

She’s wearing size 2 diapers (we just switched her this week) and 3 month clothes, but will be growing out of them soon.

She laughs and giggles at us.

She rolls over from stomach to back when she gets really angry during tummy time.

She reaches and holds onto everything, especially mommy’s hair.

She babbles and sometimes it sounds like she’s saying Ma or Daddy. 🙂

Happy 4 months, Allie!

  1. Awwww, your baby girl is growing so fast already! Love how your husband is singing the Spanish alphabet to her. I would giggle at that, too. =) Congratulations on getting her to nap in her crib! I hope things go well next month with the new crib routine!

  4. Axel and Allie are so much alike at this age. He always needs to be held, hates being tired, and constantly wants to move. It can be exhausting for us at times when we don’t get a moment to relax. We are still working on the public places thing… while he is fine going places with Justin and I, as soon as we disappear he notices. We tried to go to church on Christmas Eve and were buzzed (we left him in the infant area) during the first song in. He apparently does not like being left with strangers. Have you left Allie with strangers yet?

    • It is exhausting!! Ive left her at the gym daycare with a stranger twice, but she slept the entire time so she didn’t know I was gone. She’s with me 24/7 so I don’t think she’ll like it the first time she realizes I’m gone. I heard it gets worse as they get older. I know I hated when my Mom took me to daycare when I was young.

  6. Happy 4 months! I can’t believe how fast it goes. I’ve heard it’s fine to do cry it out at 4 months though I’m sure it’s hard. Siena goes down totally fine to sleep at night in her bassinet or crib but really fights naps. I don’t know why there’s such a dramatic difference but there is!

  7. She just gets cuter and cuter!
Christmas is so magical with babies/children. I really liked how into it my daughter was this year, plus it was my son’s first Christmas… So a very special year all around!
I hope the crib transition goes OK next month!

  8. I hope the crib transition goes well! We switched early on because I couldn’t sleep with Buel in the bassinet next to me. We had to let him cry it out a bit- at a week old- but it really did work!
