Pregnancy Update – 21 Weeks

21 weeks

21 weeks down and 19 to go! While running on Sunday I realized that these last 20 weeks kind of feel like I’m training for a marathon. My training is usually 18-20 weeks and the obsession, dreams, planning, and training seem very similar except I’m training to be a Mom instead of running a marathon. I already feel so obsessed with thinking about the day we finally get to meet Allie, I can’t image on intense those feelings are going to be the last couple of weeks.

How far along? 21 weeks + 1 day

Due date? September 6, 2015

Baby’s size? Baby Allie is the size of a cantaloupe.

Workouts: Ran 17 miles total for the week.

Monday: Ran 3 miles on the treadmill.
Tuesday: Ran 3 miles on the treadmill – so boring!
Wednesday: 30 min walk on the treadmill + two long walks with Mom & Max.
Thursday: 2 long walks with Mom & Max.
Friday: Ran 2 quick miles outside.
Saturday: It’s a cut back week so we only ran 6 miles with CES. For some reason I felt super tired and sore after this run. I think the soreness was from my shoes. I’m going to buy new ones before our long run this Saturday. I can’t wait to try the Saucony Kinvara 6!
Sunday: 3 mile run on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. 🙂

Maternity clothes? Yep, but I didn’t buy anything new this week. I’m still wearing regular workout clothes.

Sleep: Now that I’m bigger I’m finding it a little big harder to sleep. The last two nights I haven’t been able to get comfortable.

Best moment this week: Our 21 week ultrasound!

Allie

Baby Allie is doing well and only measuring one day behind. She was awake during the ultrasound and it was so cool to see her move around. For awhile she had her feet over her head – she’s our little gymnast. It’s still hard to imagine her in my body. Seeing her on the ultrasound screen makes it seem so real, but I still can’t believe she’s inside of me.

We found out I have an anterior placenta (it’s the big blog near her face) so it’s harder to feel movements. It just means the placenta is in front near my stomach so blocking the movements. I can still feel her moving inside, but it will be more difficult to feel them on the outside of my stomach. We also found out I have an asymmetric umbilical cord. My doctor said there’s nothing to worry about, but we’ll need to be careful when giving birth because it can easily get pulled. My next appt. is next week so I’m going to ask her more questions about it.

Miss Anything? Smaller boobs for running, and fitting into my clothes.

Movement: I’m still feeling Allie move around at night right before I go to sleep.

Food cravings: FROZEN YOGURT, fruit and spring rolls.

frozen yogurt

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing this week! :)

Gender: Girl!

Name: Allison Kay Larsen

Symptoms: My big baby bump and it being more uncomfortable to toss and turn in bed.

Belly Button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody: Moody when I don’t get enough sleep and really happy after I run.

Looking forward to: Decorating the nursery.

  1. How exciting that you’re already more than halfway there!

You may be the only expectant mom I’ve ever known with such healthy cravings! I usually hear about junk food and the like. 🙂

  3. Woohoo, more than halfway! 🙂 Unless you go 10 days past your due date like me…then I guess just halfway? Hah. That’s such an awesome milestone to have reached!

I had an anterior placenta too, so didn’t feel much on the outside until pretty much third trimester if I remember correctly. She’ll make up for it at the end when she’s bigger and Tony will get to feel her plenty. Loving your belly shots!
