Happy Sunday! I can’t believe the last weekend before Christmas is almost over and it’s only 3 days until Christmas Eve. We are hosting our first Christmas Eve party this year (my Mom passed it down to us) so the next couple of days are going to be filled with lots of baking and cooking for the party.
Weekend Highlights
On Friday, my Mom and I went to Nordstrom’s Rack to do last minute Christmas shopping.
After shopping we came home and starting baking. We made chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, and my favorite pumpkin muffins. I brought this big tray of treats to the CES holiday run and everyone loved the pumpkin muffins.
Saturday morning was spent at Fleet Feet Sports with CES. What better way to kick off the Holiday Season than with a Jingle Bell Scavenger Hunt Run (approx. 4-5 miles total), Trivia contest, costume contest and holiday potluck! I had so much fun running around Chicago with my fellow coaches during the scavenger hunt. We had a lot of good laughs.
After coaching, we relaxed around the house and then my Mom came over to drive around to see Christmas lights. We were a little disappointed with the amount of houses that were lit up this year, but we still had fun. Once home, we ordered pizza and I enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine. π
On Sunday, I woke up in the mood to move, so decided to go on a 4 mile walk in the woods. It was a little chilly during the beginning of the walk, but warmed up quickly. Allie usually falls asleep right away in the carrier, but she stayed awake for over an hour. She really enjoyed looking around at the trees and sky.
After breakfast I started getting our basement ready for our Christmas Eve party. We don’t have a dining room so we put a folding table down in the basement and this is where we’ll have Christmas Eve dinner. I need to add two more chairs and a few more decorations and our house will be ready.
We’ve been pretty lazy the rest of the day. I did some laundry and watched more Christmas movies with Allie.
How was your weekend? Are you ready for Christmas?
I’m still not sure how you survived being out there in arctic temps. I was very happy to be inside during all of that!

Hand & toe warmers! Plus lots of running & jumping around. All of us coaches stayed together. Shhhh don’t tell coach Michael. π
Sounds like a fun-filled weekend. What a great way to end it by being lazy and watching Christmas movies with Allie! Have fun at your Christmas Eve dinner! π
