Allison Kay turned 3 months old on Thursday! I’m pretty sure she is no longer considered a newborn, just an infant for the next 9 months. I know I said this last time, but I really love her more and more each day and this month was better than the last.
One big thing I’ve noticed is that she REALLY loves me. She wants to be with her mommy 24/7 and looks for me when ever I leave the room. If I’m across the room she will turn her head and follow my voice. She sometimes cries when other people are holding her because she wants her mommy. This might sound selfish, but I LOVE that she’s so attached to me. I’ve only experienced this one other time with my dog max, but this is even better. Her love for me seriously makes my heart burst with joy. It is (she is) by far the best thing that has ever happened to me.
Likes:
- sleeping on mommy
- kicking her legs
- holding your hand
- looking at lights
- taking a bath
- public places
- sleeping in the car
- looking at the TV
- napping in her swing
Dislikes:
- her crib (she hates it)
- interrupting a feeding to burp her
- being over tired
- sitting still, she wants to be moving
Eating: She loves to eat! I was nursing her 7-8 times a day, but that wasn’t enough for my growing girl. We had a weight check two weeks ago and we found out she went from 6th percentile down to 2nd percentile. I was very upset and cried at the doctor’s office, but we have a good plan in place and I think she’s gained a good amount of weight the past two weeks. I’m still nursing her 6-7 times a day and now giving her 2 ounces of formula 3 times a day. It seems like I have less milk later in the day so that’s usually when she gets bottles. I’m okay giving her formula because at least she’s still getting some breast milk. The only thing that matters is a healthy baby.
Sleep: Her sleep has changed so much this past month. Allie now loves to sleep! She won’t sleep in her crib, but she will sleep for 9 hours on my chest or in between me and Tony. She hasn’t woke up for a night feeding for at least two weeks. ?
We tried to put her in the crib 5 nights in a row, but it didn’t go well. We would let her cry for 10 minutes and then check on her and then wait another 10 minutes and check on her again, but she never stopped crying. The last night we did it, she kicked herself across the crib and it was awful. I was a sad mama! We decided to wait until January to try again. We are hoping that it will be better when her weight is a little higher.
She is around 10 pounds (2nd percentile) and 23 inches long (34th percentile).
She’s wearing size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothes.
She laughs and giggles at us.
She sticks her tongue out and loves when you stick your tongue at her.

Aww I’ve noticed that Siena is starting to have a strong preference to me too – it makes me happy but I’m also nervous that it’ll mean she doesn’t want to be apart from me when I need her to! So far no issues but just thinking ahead!
We also have had to supplement due to some issues with breastfeeding (she had a tongue tie that we didn’t discover til later) – I also cried in the doctors office and many other times about it at first and then realized that no matter what, I’m still giving her the majority of what she needs and that’s all that matters. We are fortunate to have a friend who donates her milk to us so we don’t use formula but even if we do I’ll be ok with it – I’ve just come to realize that a full and happy baby and a happy mom are more important than a 100% breast fed baby. You’re doing great!

That’s so wonderful that you have a friend who donates milk to you. My twin sister always has an over supply so I told her next time she has a baby she’ll have to save milk for my LO. 😉

Can you believe how much they change and so quickly? And don’t worry, I bet you will notice that she puts on weight much more rapidly now. We’ve gone just formula the whole time and I noticed in the last month she’s really filled out a lot. Your little girl is such a cutie!

I’m supplementing too and it was tough at first but in the end I realized that if Buel’s healthy that’s all that matters. It’s really just a pride thing, which I had to admit to myself! I cried at the doctors office too- I had to go eight times in the first two weeks!

I’m sorry, Katie. It is really hard, but the only thing that matters is that they’re eating. Some women just don’t make enough milk. It was hard at first, but I’m feeling much better about it.

Yay for sleep! It’s amazing how much better I feel. Now we just need her to sleep in her crib.
She’s adorable. I feel like my little guy was just 3 months old and now he is 10!! Glad the sleeping is going better. We moved my little guy at 7 weeks and it was rough to start but then got used to it. Hopefully she will like her crib more in January! My little guy is sucker for lights too… Hope you had a good Thanksgiving

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already been three months! It feels like just yesterday when you were still pregnant and awaiting the big delivery! Allie is SO cute – she looks like such a sweet angel! LOL at how she laughs when you stick your tongue out at her. Sometimes you wonder what is going through her little mind, right?
