Day In The Life With A 4 Month Old

Day In The Life With A 4 Month Old

Happy Monday! It’s time for another day in the life post. The last time I did one was when Allie was a newborn. It will be fun to look back at this time to see what life was like and to see how much Allie has changed.

This is from last week, Tuesday, January 12.

Day In The Life

6:00am – I hear Allie stir. I let her coo and stretch a little, while I get up, brush my teeth, and go to the kitchen to make coffee. I didn’t used to drink coffee, but ever since I had Allie I’ve been drinking it daily.
6:30am – Allie starts making more noise so I go and get her, change her diaper, and nurse her in bed.
7:00am – She’s done eating so it’s time for my breakfast. I put Allie in her jumper while I make stove top oatmeal.

oatmeal7:30am – I wash the dishes and then we practice sitting up.

Allie AM
7:45am – I give Allie a bottle because we’re going to be leaving the house soon and I don’t think she’ll be able to make it the rest of the morning.
8:15am – I get Allie dressed for the day and then I change into my workout clothes.
8:45am – It snowed a few inches last night so I clean off my car and pack the diaper bag while the car is heating up.
9:00am – We leave the house to go to Stroller Strides and Allie falls asleep right away.
9:30am – Allie smiles and watches for the first 10 minutes and then falls asleep for the rest of the class. The class was a Tabata style workout and I was super sore the next day.

10:30am – After class we hang out with the other moms and babies at Little Beans Cafe. Allie is too small to play, but it gives me a chance to talk to the other moms.
11:00am – Little Beans is near a Target so I decided to stop and pick up some groceries.

Target
11:30am – Allie gets hungry so I sit down at the Starbucks in Target and feed her a bottle and change her diaper.
12:30pm – We arrive home and I put the groceries away.
12:45pm – Allie is content her in jumper so I take the time to clean up around the house. I clean the countertops, appliances, and vacuum the kitchen floor.
1:00pm – Allie starts acting hungry so I nurse her and give her a bottle.
1:30pm – Nap time! I turn on The Chew and fold laundry. While I’m watching I write a few emails and make changes to one of my runner’s training plan.
2:00pm – I forgot to take a picture but I sat down for lunch and ate a veggie burger, quinoa and veggies.
3:00pm – Allie is up. We cuddle in bed and she coos and babbles at me for awhile.
4:00pm – I nurse and give Allie a bottle and then eat an apple with peanut butter for snack.
4:30pm – We walk around the house looking out the window, saying hello to each room, teaching her colors and counting while we walk. Then we read a few books.

books
5:00pm – Allie starts rubbing her eyes and whining so I put her in her crib. I go in the living room and sit down to read The Life-Changing Magic of tidying up by Marie Kondo (love it so far).
5:30pm – Fold some laundry and put it away.
5:45pm – Allie is up and in a good mood so we FaceTime with grandma Wendy.
6:00pm – I start getting dinner ready while Allie sits in her high chair. I give her a little bit of the sweet potato/Apple purée (blog post to come).

baby food
6:30pm – I sit down and eat my chicken stir fry while Allie watches me in her high chair.

dinner
7:00pm – Dinner is done so I wash the dishes and clean up the kitchen.
7:15pm – Our nightly routine begins: put Allie in jammies, read a couple of books, and give Allie her last bottle.
7:30pm – I put her down and within 10 minutes she asleep. YAY!
8:00pm – I get into bed and watch State of the Union.
9:00pm – Lights out.

And that was a day in the life with a 4 month old!

  1. Sounds like a very busy day, but I guess that’s typical for a day with a newborn. At least you have 1.5 hours for yourself at the end of the day!

  8. Busy mama! I loved stroller strides when I was in Boston! There isn’t one around here but that was such a great workout! Good for you for getting out there. Even better that she slept most the time!

I think I need to pick up that book. I keep eyeing it. Review it when you’re done?? Do you use Goodreads, by chance?

    • Stroller strides is one of my favorite parts of our week! I don’t use goodreads but maybe I should start. I love the book so far. I’m good at not having clutter, but I need to work on my closet.

  9. Sounds like you’re a great mom and Allie is a lucky girl to have you!

We have stroller strides at the park near my house but I haven’t tried it yet. My neighbor wants me to go with her so I’ll check it out! Glad you’re enjoying it.

Would love to hear about how the solids are going too!

  10. Do you usually put her down at 7:30 every night, or does her bedtime vary? I find that with Axel, his bedtime fluctuates depending on when he last napped and how much he has napped during the day…
