Garmin Forerunner 15 Review

Garmin Forerunner 15 Review

I have had a Garmin GPS watch ever since I started running. I am a big fan of the Garmin brand and the data it gives me. I first had the 310 for many years and then my Mom bought me the Garmin 610 this winter. I have been using the 610, but also looking for a fitness tracker. I had heard a lot of great things about the FitBit but I wanted to wait until they came out with a new one.

The other day I saw one of my #RunCHI team members posted that they had purchased a GPS watch and it was also an activity tracker and I knew I had to have it! I went to Fleet Feet Sports Chicago right away and bought the Teal/White watch.

Some of the features:

  • Tracks distance, pace, heart rate and calories
  • Activity tracking counts steps and calories and reminds you when it’s time to move
  • Compatible with foot pod (sold separately) for recording distance indoors
  • Up to 8 hours of battery life with GPS on or 5 weeks in watch/activity tracking mode
  • Save, plan and share your activities at Garmin Connect™

The Garmin Forerunner 15 is an upgrade to the FR10 and has the daily activity tracking features like the Garmin Vivofit so it’s the perfect hybrid. It’s like having a Fitbit on your GPS watch. I even tested it and wore the 610 and 15 simultaneously for a few workouts and they matched up perfectly.

I love that the face of the watch will show you the step counts by number and also by a progress bar. It will also alert you when you have been sedentary too long with a gently suggestion to move!

The best part is that I don’t have to switch watches. The Garmin Forerunner 15 does everything I need. I’m very happy with my purchase and it’s definitely helping me walk more.

Do you run with a GPS watch or have activity tracker?

  1. Sounds like a very cool watch. How long does the battery last? I run with a Garmin 310xt but am frustrated with it crashing and losing data about once a month. The heart rate monitor has also been starting to give bad readings lately too. So, I may be in the market for a new GPS soon, but might give another brand a try.

    • Pete – I’ve been wearing it every day for the past two weeks and it hasn’t died yet. I love the 15 for the activity tracker, but you probably want something with more running features when training for a marathon. I haven’t tried any other brand besides Garmin. Let me know if you end up buying something else and really liking it.

  2. That is a a cute watch!

Right now I still have my first real watch , the Garmin 305, and a Nike+ Sportswatch.
