New Shoes

New Shoes

On Sunday morning I was on a mission to find a new pair of running shoes for tempo and speed workouts. I have always heard it’s good to wear more than one pair of shoes while training. Coach Granato suggested I have a different pair of shoes for my easy days, tempo/speed workouts, and a pair for races.

I was happy to learn that the Fleet Feet Sports store in Lincoln Square is only ten minutes from my sister’s house.

Look, I’m learning to parallel park! City driving doesn’t scare me but ask me to parallel park and I become a hot mess. I usually have someone in the car to help me but on Sunday I did it all by myself. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mizuno Wave Precision 11

Saucony Kinvara 2

Nike LunaRacer +2

I love the Nike LuncaRacer’s and will be buying them to run the Chicago Marathon.

Adidas adiZero Adios

Matt Klinsky at Fleet Feet was very helpful and knowledgeable. He spent a lot of time and was very patient with me. I almost went with the Adidas adiZero Adios but I couldn’t get past the bright color. Green is my favorite color but these were a little too green.

I finally made a decision and bought the Saucony Kinvara 2. The Kinvara 2 is a neutral running shoe that allows your foot to run uninhibited.ย  They are “minimalist trainers” but not a racing flat. The sole is thicker than a racing flat and they are flared out a little bit so there’s lots of lateral coverage. They are lightweight, which I love, but they provide cushion for high impact workouts. I love the white/purple color too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Goodness…thanks for the tip Sara! I had no idea that I should have different shoes…I’ve always worn the same pair no matter what type of running I was doing. Ooops… ๐Ÿ™

  2. Did you pay retail???????

  3. Parallel parking is my nightmare! I don’t have a car in the city right now, but will be getting one this summer.I’m going to need a crash course in paralleling. yikes!

  4. Oh dear . . . I love me some Adidas, but you’ve got to got with your heart!!!! Nice job on the parallel parking and can I just say YAY for running again!?!? Go girl!

  5. I use the Luna racer+2 for speed and long distance races. I’m convinced the lightness of them make me faster- and less tired. If you save 4oz per shoe, per step over a marathon it adds up to a lot of weight saved.

I have the newer model of Luna racer and don’t like it as much as the +2

Good week of training for you! Congrats!

  6. Love the parallel parking shot… I was the same way when I moved here years ago!!! You’ll look back on that pic and think that spot is HUGE once you move down here and become a master parker ๐Ÿ™‚

    • haha, I know that spot was HUGE but I was still proud of myself. ๐Ÿ™‚ You’ll need to help me become a master parker. CAN’T WAIT TO LIVE IN THE CITY!
